TEXACO PAINTINGS TO FEATURE IN WATERFORD GARTER LANE SPROG FESTIVAL
DUBLIN, IRELAND 27 June 2008 - Waterford’s Garter Lane Arts Centre on O'Connell Street, Waterford will be the venue for an exhibition of paintings from the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007 Texaco Children’s Art Competitions.
Beginning on Friday 4 July and continuing until Saturday 30 August 2008, the exhibition will be officially opened by the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Martin Cullen TD on 28 July and will coincide with the Garter Lane Children's Festival.
Entitled the SprOg Festival, it is designed as a pre-Spraoi for the under eight year olds in which the emphasis will be on fun and lively entertainment. Held in the week prior to the Waterford Spraoi festival, this children’s event will feature entertainment and educational events for children aged 5 and older and their families. With two shows a day, workshops and exhibitions, the festival is described as ‘a wonderful exploration of work for children presented in a fun and safe environment’.
