CORK VISION CENTRE TO HOST 2011 TEXACO ART EXHIBITION
The Cork Vision Centre at St Peter’s on North Main St, Cork is to be the venue for an exhibition of winning paintings in this year’s 57th Texaco Children’s Art competition. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 30July.
Among the 161 exhibits will be works by 14 Cork students who took top prizes in the competition. They are second and third prize winners in the 9-11 years age category Ali O’Neill (11) from Scoil Náisiúnta an Chroí Naofa, Glounthaune for her work entitled ‘Open Your Eyes’ and Karla Bester (11) from Scoil Barra Naofa, Monkstown for her work ‘Frog Dance’.
Other Cork winners whose works will be on display are Liam Nash (16) from Schull Community College; Fabian Laszio Boros (18) and Aleksandra Fudali (17), both from St. Brogan’s College, Bandon; Emma Neville (17) from Loreto Secondary School, Fermoy; Julie Allen (14) from Colaiste an Phiarsaigh, Glanmire; Adam O’Sullivan (13) from Patrician Academy, Mallow; Eryk Takuski (10) from Scoil Eoin, Ballincollig; Michael O’Reilly (8) from St. Anthony’s Boys School, Ballinlough; Joe O’Brien (6) from Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn; Andreas Bester (6) from Carrigaline Educate Together; Killian Walsh (14) and Danielle Lynch (15), both from Trieste Special School, Glanmire.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Cork radio 103FM Drivetime presenter Martina O’Donoghue at a reception to be held in the centre on Thursday 4 August at 6pm. It will continue until Wednesday 31August, opening Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to 5pm.
