A commercial commission valued at €1,500 will be awarded by UTV to the overall winner of the Texaco Children's Art Competition. This young artist is deemed to be the 1st prize winner of Category A and the UTV Commission will be awarded in addition to the prize being presented by Texaco. The commissioned piece will go on to form part of the UTV Young Artist Collection. It will hang alongside the original UTV Collection which boasts work by famous artists such as Basil Blackshaw, Gerard Dillon and George Campbell.

Previous winners of this commission include Kevin Roche (2002) and Eoin Kenny (2003), both of whom entered the Texaco Children's Art Competition from Gorey Community School, Gorey, Co Wexford; Niamh Fanning (2004) from Malahide Community School, Co Dublin, Elena Afrova (2005), from Regent House Grammer School, Newtownards, Co. Down, Rose Toolan (2006) from Templemichael College, Longford, Cillian Boyd (2007) from Gaelcholáiste an Chláir, Ennis, Co. Clare and Lucy Carragher (2008) from St Anne's Community College, Killaloe, Co. Clare.
