68th Texaco Children's Art Competition Winners Announced
The closing date for this year's Competition passed earlier this year and we would like to thank all young artists who entered and their parents or guardians, teachers and their schools for their involvement and participation.
With close to 20,000 artworks received, this year's entry level was very notable particularly in relation to the quality of work that we received.
Congratulations to all, but especially to our category winners whose winning artworks are displayed in the 2022 Art Gallery above.
We note in particular this year's overall winner, Dan Killackey, from the University of Limerick for his work entitled 'Isolation'. His winning painting along three other artworks from this year's Competition will be exhibited at the prestigious 23rd International Arts Festival in Tokyo's National Art Center in August at the kind invitation of the International Foundation for Arts and Culture (IFAC). Well done Dan and congratulations to Anya Clarke-Carr, Leah Massey and Emma O'Brien on this selection too.
We will not host our annual Awards Ceremony this year but have organised for an exhibition of the category winners (126 artworks in total) to take place at the Royal Ulster Academy in Belfast from 31st May to 30th June (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, 9am-5pm). These artworks will also be displayed at the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh later this year.
We'd also like to congratulate those artists who have been awarded a Certificate of Commendation by our judging panel. Their names may be viewed here, listed in alphabetical order by surname. Well done to all the recipients of this award. Your Certificate has now been posted to your home or school address.
